Visual Storytelling focuses on the narrative aspect of comics; how imagery, text, panel layouts, and other tools can be used most effectively to portray characters and immerse the reader in a story. This class will be offered again, at a time to be determined.
Cartooning focuses on drawing skills particular to comic creation: creating art that has immediacy and economy, that plays well with text and takes advantage of repeating imagery in panels. This class will be offered again, at a time to be determined.
In November of 2008, I taught a graphic novel workshop at the National Book Development Council of Singapore. The Instant Graphic Novel group project from that class is on display here.
